Pet Portraits from Photos: What’s my process?
I paint one-of-a-kind portraits from your favorite photographs. The most important thing about the photos you send me – 3 minimum – is that they clearly show your pet’s eyes and expression as that is what conveys their unique personality.
So a couple of tips for good photos are: kneel at eye level to minimize distortion, get various angles that show the shape of their face not just front into the camera, ears up and eyes open are good to get and include some with their mouth open, sort of smiling, but not critical.
You have a choice of style and of type of paint – oil or acrylic. See my Pet Portrait Gallery to view two different painting styles. Plan 4 to 6 weeks from start to finish – the steps are listed below.

STEP THROUGH THE PROCESS
STEP 1: Contact Me
The best way is to use either the online order form or email. The order form provides key information I need before getting started, such as artistic style, canvas size and paint medium.
STEP 2: Send Photos of Your Pet(s)
A minimum of 3 pictures is required, and more is better still. I will recommend the best photo to use for the painting and get your approval before starting the sketch.
STEP 3: Approve My Pencil Sketch
Based on the approved photo in Step 2, I will create a sketch on actual canvas for your approval. You will see how it will look on your chosen canvas size.
STEP 4: Submit 50% Deposit
Before I start to paint, I require a 50% deposit. You can make your deposit with a check, PayPal or cash.
STEP 5: Hang Your Custom Painting on Your Wall
You can hang the painting right away, as it is on 1-1/2″ thick canvas and does not need to be framed. Your portrait is ready to enjoy upon delivery, whether in via shipping or personal delivery.
STEP 6: Final Payment is Due upon Delivery.
